NorQuest’s Interdisciplinary Simulation Centre (NISC)
Simulation has traditionally been a key learning strategy in the Health Careers division of NorQuest College. In 2008, the College opened the NorQuest Interdisciplinary Simulation Centre (NISC) in the Health Education Centre on 106th St.
The mission of the NISC is to support the integration of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and clinical judgment as experiential and reflective learning in an interdisciplinary, safe culture. In the NISC, learners participate in scenarios with high fidelity mannequins and actors that mimic the clinical practice environment. Learners recognize situations, respond to the situations, reflect on their response, and then relate what they learned to future situations. Learners in the NISC include students of NorQuest College, students of programs external to the College, and post-graduate learners.
