NorQuest College is the largest provider of Practical Nurse and Health Care Aide education in Canada.

Practical Nurse Programs Practical Nurse (PN) Diploma

NorQuest’s Practical Nurse Diploma programs prepare you to practise as a highly competent member of the health care team. Upon completion of the program, you will be prepared to write the national exam required to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Canada.

Learn through a combination of lectures, labs and clinical practice experiences with knowledgeable and experienced instructors. Clinical practice placements are instructor- and preceptor-supervised.

Nearly 100 per cent of NorQuest graduates pass the national examination on their first try and become LPNs. Nation-wide industry recognition of our program means a 100 per cent employment rate for our graduates!

If you plan to continue your education, your Practical Nurse diploma from NorQuest will qualify you for admission to other nursing and health care degree programs at several postsecondary institutions in Alberta.

Health Care Aide (HCA) Certificate

NorQuest’s Health Care Aide programs prepare you to become part of a health care team, providing a high level of care to clients in need of assistance. The program meets all provincial competency requirements, and is approved by Alberta Health and Wellness. Our innovative and flexible learning options give you the opportunity to earn while you learn. NorQuest's health care aide program leads to almost 100 per cent of graduates finding employment in the field.

Pharmacy Technician Diploma

As a student in this nationally accredited diploma program, you will acquire the knowledge and skills needed to work in the growing pharmacy field. Our diploma program will thoroughly prepare you for this fast-paced and highly respected occupation. As a qualified technician under the supervision of a pharmacist, you will be involved in the preparing prescriptions, compounded medications and sterile products, repackaging pharmaceuticals, managing inventory and providing customer care.

Physical Therapy Assistant Diploma

If you enjoy helping people and want a career assisting patients in overcoming physical injuries or disabilities, this diploma program could be for you. Our program prepares you with the theoretical knowledge and therapeutic skills needed to begin your challenging career as a Physical Therapy Assistant. Assistants help with treatments, perform lifts and transfers, assist with exercises, monitor patients, instruct patients in the use of equipment such as crutches, and assist with other tasks as required.

Therapeutic Recreation Certificate and Diploma

Our Therapeutic Recreation program is all about learning to enhance your client’s quality of life through leisure activities. Focusing on wellness, you will learn to meet your client’s individual needs by selecting and adapting meaningful recreation opportunities. Enhance your leadership skills as you learn to encourage cognitively or physically impaired clients to participate in a variety of activities.

Year one of this program leads to a certificate. It is available through on-campus studies and distance education.

Year two, which leads to a diploma, is available by distance education only.

Mental Health Rehabilitation Certificate and Diploma

The Mental Health Rehabilitation program provides formal education for compassionate and patient individuals who want to work in the mental health field. This program covers the knowledge and skills graduates will need to work as valuable members of a mental health team. Under the direction of a health care professional, you may assist with providing treatments and procedures, observing and reporting patient behaviour, organizing and supervising activities, and providing patients with routine care.

Both a certificate and diploma are available in this program. Year one leads to a certificate. It is available through oncampus studies and distance education. Year two, which leads to a diploma, is available by distance education only.

Notwithstanding all specific program prerequisites, NorQuest College reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant when, in the opinion of the College, there is sufficient and substantiated evidence, medical or otherwise, to conclude that by granting admission, NorQuest College would jeopardize the safety of clients, other students, and staff or would otherwise be negligent in providing for the safety and well-being of clients, staff, or other students.
