ESL Bridge to Business Careers

Program Overview

ESL Bridge to Business Careers is an intensive 16-week program designed to prepare you for success in a business career environment. Upon successful completion of this program, you will meet the English language requirement for NorQuest College Business Careers programs: Administrative Professional, Business Administration, and Hospital Unit Clerk.

ESL Bridge to Business Careers is appropriate for ESL students who have a high intermediate level of language proficiency (Canadian Language Benchmarks 6/7). You will take an online course from the Administrative Professional program while registered in BBC.

  • Reading material focuses on subjects of interest to the office professional and is designed to increase both reading speed and comprehension.
  • Students learn about the office environment and culture in Canada.
  • Computer labs and computer instruction are included.
  • Oral presentations increase fluency and confidence.

Career Potential

Graduates will have the language communication skills and confidence to help them achieve success in any post-secondary business course or program.

Transferability

After successfully completing the Bridge to Business Careers program and achieving a pass grade in the CLB 7 exit test or the Workplace Language Assessment (WLA), learners meet the English language requirement for all Business Careers programs at NorQuest College.

  • Placement test
  • Minimum of high school education in your first language
  • CLB 6/7

Credential

After successfully completing this program, graduates will be awarded a NorQuest ESL Bridge to Business Careers certificate.
