Program Overview

The 16-week Bridge to Health Care Aide (HCA) program helps you reach the level of proficiency you need to satisfy the English language requirement for admission to NorQuest's Health Care Aide program. This program focuses entirely on preparing you to be successful in the Health Care Aide program.

Bridge to Health Care Aide consists of five main elements: medical terminology, reading and writing skills, therapeutic communication skills (listening and speaking), intercultural communication, and academic study skills.

Graduates of NorQuest's Health Care Aide program find employment in their field 99 percent of the time. Many health care aides are employed in continuing care institutions, home care agencies, group homes, lodges, assisted or supported living, day programs, specialized care centres and programs, acute care hospitals, and private care.
