Program Overview
The Apprenticeship Prep program consists of two, 8-month pilot programs offered in partnership with Edmonton Pipe Trades--Building Trades of Alberta. The focus of the program will be on pipefitting, welding, steam fitting, plumbing and related trades.
Practicum Expectations
- Participate in either a ten week training program at Building Trades of Alberta or a 16 week work experience component.
- Find transportation to Alberta Building Trades training facility in the west end of Edmonton or work experience placement. Driver's license is preferred for work placement.
- Physically able to respond to the demands of chosen trade.

The Apprenticeship Prep program will provide the foundation you need to help you increase your knowledge and become a skilled tradesperson.
Admission Requirements (2012-2013)
- CLB 6 or grade 8 equivalent English
- Working on CLB 5 with instructor recommendation
- Pre-Algebra math or grade 8 equivalent

Progression
Students must attain a pass grade in each course to progress through the program.
Tuition and Fees
Tuition is waived in the two pilot program offerings.
