Program Overview

NorQuest College, in partnership with the University of Alberta, offers a two-year university transition program for Aboriginal students. Students in this transition program acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to be successful in a university undergraduate program. They experience the academic rigour of post-secondary studies in a safe and supportive environment where Aboriginal culture is integrated and celebrated.

Students will enter the program with a minimum of English 30-1 or the ability to complete this course by the end of Term 1. The program focuses on university preparation, English, Aboriginal studies, and Cree language and culture. Students may also complete additional 30- level courses as required to achieve their post-secondary prerequisites.

NorQuest College has a comprehensive student support strategy that provides Aboriginal students with the tools needed to reach their academic goals. This program follows the principles established in the Ben Calf Robe Upgrading program, providing a learning environment where Aboriginal students feel comfortable, safe, and valued in their pursuit of education.

Transferability

Students may achieve up to 24 credits while in the University of Alberta Open Studies. Upon successful completion of the necessary prerequisites, students may be granted admission to the faculty of their choice.
