Program Overview
This 16-week preparatory program is designed for students who need to upgrade their academic skills for entry into the Aboriginal Policing and Security certificate program. Students gain background and basic skills needed to enter the Aboriginal Policing and Security program.
Career Potential
Graduates of the Aboriginal Policing and Security program may be considered for recruitment or employment as a police officer, correctional service officer, sheriff or bailiff, military police officer, security officer or manager, or First Nations police officer.
Transferability
This preparation program gives you the academic admission requirements necessary for entry into the Aboriginal Policing and Security certificate program.
Admission Requirements (2011-2012)
- Commitment to completing the GED (General Educational Development) or obtaining a high school diploma
Admission Requirements (2012-2013)
- Assessment of English skills
- Assessment of mathematics skills for appropriate placement
Credential
After successfully completing this program, graduates will be awarded a NorQuest Prep for Aboriginal Policing and Security certificate.
