"I had a fantastic rapport with my instructors who were genuinely concerned with my success and the challenges I faced."
When I was 17, I left home and dropped out of high school and was pregnant by 18. I knew I could not support my baby making minimum wage. My only option was to go back to school. I knew that NorQuest College would help me get the credentials I needed to further my education in a supportive, understanding environment.
My experience at NorQuest was great. I enjoyed the small, friendly atmosphere of the Stony Plain Campus. I had a fantastic rapport with my instructors who were genuinely concerned with my success and the challenges I faced.
I am now on the road to becoming a registered nurse through Grant MacEwan University. I would never have been able to be here if it were not for NorQuest. In high school, I was an average student but NorQuest taught me how to learn and get the marks I needed. When I started at NorQuest, I had very little confidence. I had difficulty just walking into a room. Now I can speak in front of groups of people. When I graduate in 2012 as a registered nurse, I plan to work helping pregnant and new moms. |
