ApplyAlberta partner, NorQuest College, providing greater access to students through one-stop online application system
EDMONTON – NorQuest College is one of 21 partner institutions participating in a new one-stop online application system for Albertans interested in a post-secondary education. Today, the Alberta Post-Secondary Application System Society launched ApplyAlberta, providing prospective students with access to one or more of these institutions through a central application system.
“As the largest community college in the province and the Campus Alberta steward for the Edmonton region, NorQuest is committed to providing learners in the communities we serve with improved access to programs and services,” says Dr. Wayne Shillington, President and CEO, NorQuest College. “We are proud to be a part of ApplyAlberta that connects adult learners to a range of programs and makes it easier for them to register.”
NorQuest launched its online interface in November 2009, becoming one of the first colleges to connect its website to applyalberta.ca. First-time students can create a profile using their personal information and academic history. The profile, which is password protected, is then sent to one or more institutions. Students can also authorize transcript transfers between institutions in just minutes and at no additional cost.
ApplyAlberta is part of a provincial government mandate to make education accessible to all learners, regardless of their location, and provide seamless access to the post-secondary system. Today’s ApplyAlberta launch event starts at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast live at http://www.uleth.ca/crdc/?p=476.
