At NorQuest
we recognize the unique challenges that distance learners
face. NorQuest has worked hard to develop superior resources
that are designed to be accessible and convenient for distance
learners. Program and course assistance is also available
by telephone, the Internet, or e-mail.
NorQuest takes pride in the level of support
services we offer to ensure the success of our students. These
services range from helping our learners with personal or
financial difficulties to assisting NorQuest graduates access
the job market.

Aboriginal Student Support Services

The Aboriginal Student Advisor is available
for conusltation if you are experiencing personal
or college-related difficulties, or if you need help with
any of the following:
- Completing the application process,
identifying funding options, or career planning
- Connecting with instructors, counsellors,
student advisors, admissions personnel, and funding agencies
- Gathering information on Aboriginal awards,
scholarships, and bursaries
The Aboriginal Student Advisor is also
responsible for the following:
- Recommends and assesses eligibility for
provincial student funding
- Case manages band-funded students
- Organizes various cultural events throughout
the year, including the Annual Round Dance and Aboriginal
Awareness Day

NorQuest College offers professional and
confidential counselling at no cost to all students and staff.
Our counsellors possess a wide range of expertise and knowledge
as psychologists and educators.
Counsellors can help you with problems
and issues that affect academic achievement, personal growth,
and career development, including:
- Personal – Stress, self-esteem,
interpersonal communications, family issues, addictions,
anger, finances and budgeting, and motivation
- Crisis – Bereavement, illness,
assault, harassment, suicide, and depression
- Education – Course planning and
study skills (note taking, memory strategies, exam preparation,
test anxiety, test-taking strategies)
- Vocational – Career choice, and
interest and personality testing
- Referral – Referral to other NorQuest
services or to community agencies
The counselling office is open from 8:15
am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Call or drop in to book an
appointment. Services are also available at our Stony Plain
and Wetaskiwin Campuses.
Health Services

You are required to update any required
immunizations through a Public Health Unit. The College Heath
Services Department provides influenza (flu) immunizations,
and emergency medical and health counselling to the distance
student by appointment.

Although the print study guides, course
modules and textbooks contain all of the required program
information, additional resources may be accessed from the
downtown campus. Resources may be searched using a computerized
catalogue and obtained from other libraries via inter-library
loan if required.
You will be issued a NorQuest College Library Card and an
Alberta Library Card following the official acceptance into
our Distance Education Programs.

Employment Services assists you to develop the skills necessary
to seek and obtain employment. These services are available
over the phone and by e-mail and include:
- Self-assessment of job skills
- Job search techniques
- Resume and cover letter writing
- Completion of application forms
- Interview preparation
Student Intranet
Campus Life is an online resource centre containing
information on College programs, services and resources, links
to online courses, and a calendar of events. The intranet
has links to useful resources on the Internet, including career
planning, study skills, student finance, phone directories,
dictionaries, and much more.
